I encoded a movie with TMP at 2100 bitrate cause at 2520 it was jittery during scene movement so someone sugested I had to lower bitrat, so I did to 2100 and the movie was perfect. Now i encode a differant movie with the same process, smart rip, dvdtoavi, tmp - NTSC - interlace - field a first, 16:9 - bitrate 2100 - CBR - full screen keep aspect ratio - slow for high quality - and the movie is jittery during motion scenes. Is the bitrate differant for differant movies or what am i doing wrong.
arrrrrrrrr!

Check your frame rate in DVD2AVI. If it says Film, set to Force Film. Most DVDs (movies) are encoded at 23.97 FPS. Video (NTSC) is 29.97 FPS and encoding at this rate adds duplicate frames, making motion look jerky. This will smooth things out, and free up bitrate for better quality.
If it's NTSC it's 29.97 FPS. Encoding at original frame rate fixes most motion jerkyness problems. -
IN TMPGENC SELECT SVCD(NTSCFILM) TEMPLATE.
THIS WILL APPLY A 3:2 PULLDOWN ON PLAYBACK AND WILL REMOVE THE SHAKINESS.
TEST IT SEE IF IT WORKS -
After you load the vobs press f5 to preview the movie. in the screen that pops up will say either nts or forced film. if it says film then select forced film in one of the dropdown menus. then encode it in tmpge as progressive not interlaced and leave the frame rate 23.9 or 24fps. your better off loading the svcd-film template that comes with tmpge. if it is ntsc then use the standard template and uncheck force film. what will cause the blocky and jumpiness sometimes is the motion search priority. if yuou have it set to normal than bump it up i always use the slow setting not the slowest.
hope this helps

Thank u all, I mean it. This is a learning curve for sure. I would like to say that I tried changing the setting in DVDTOAVI to force film as the source indicated film and the movie was perfect. I now need to try the process again with a differant movie to be sure I'v licked this one.
THANX again to all, What would we do without this site?
