Hi I'm a total newbie at this, so please bear with me..
Here's the spec of my pc
Athlon 1.4
256mb ram
3d prophet 32mb ram graphics card
WinTV Go (very old card)
Win98 SE
I connect my vcr via a arial (coax cable) directly to the wintv card (as you would a normal terrestrial TV), the line in/out is connected via the wintv card to the line in on my motherboard.
I'm trying to cap my video tapes from my vcr. I've tried to use virtualdub, but it keeps on crashing..so I'm using freevcr. I can capture video perfectly, but I can't get any sound.. I tried to connect the line in to the microphone socket on my soundboard, it does work, but the quality is unbearable. the setting's I use are the same as the guide on this site "How to Capture directly to DivX with any TV-Card or Video-In-Card" the audio setting I use on free vcr is record. I don't know if I should select realtime or not?? Also, when I've captured the video (as per the guide on this site) the file size is huge - even when the codec I've used to capture is Divx - low motion. am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mr Luberman
