PatrickM, Next, or anyone:
As might be expected, my Celeron 466 (on an Abit BM6 running Windows 98 with 384 MB RAM), drops a frame every few seconds when doing 480 x 480 MPEG 2 captures using MMC 6.3 (with my All-In-Wonder 128 16 MB AGP). Would MMC 7.1 performance likely be better, worse, or the same? I understand that it uses a different engine for MPEG encoding. I'm concerned about installing MMC 7.1 because some people have written that it's caused irreversible problems with their systems. Is that a real risk?
Thanks in advance,
treborf

On another board, someone just posted that their PIII 450 drops 20% of frames when capturing MPEG 2 @ 480x480 in MMC 7.1. That would seem worse than my performance (dropping a frame or two every 2 or 3 seconds). Does this mean that the Ligos engine in MMC 6.3 is more efficient than ATI's replacement in MMC 7.1?
