  2. I might be wrong, but I think .asx if actually only a link to the actual .asf/.wmv file. You'll have to get the actual .asf file, and then convert it. Wma is usually associated with music files (like mp3s), unless you mean .wmv, which is windows media video (or something like that). You can convert .asf with TMPGEnc.

    asx files are indeed just shortcuts to the actual stream. you need a program called asf recorder. don't know if it's still available. then with that program you can d\l the stream to your HD. thats when the fun begins. ASF is a shitty propritary microsoft format. you'll then need to read a lot of guides to convert that to a working vcd.
    I can tell you this My experience is that the quality is usually shitty and the time and effort spent is usually not worth the end result.
