  1. I got my .avi movie(Meet the Parents) into .mpg format using a program that was recommended here(there have been so many that I cant remember the name).. it was too big for one disc so i used yet another program to split them up...i tested them on my PC and they looked and sounded great....i loaded the first one meetparents1.mpg into the latest version of Nero and waited...it said it was encoding it and then it burned it....said it was completed and was successful...took it to my DVD player Toshiba 2109 and it wouldnt play....now what?

  2. Well what format did you covert them to? (vcd-ntsc vcd-pal svcd-ntsc... etc) If you made it into a VCD-NTSC and then tried to burn it as a SVCD then there's your reason. But other than that I'm at a bit of a loss. And btw, what program did you use? It may help someone find an answer to your problem.
Is it supposed to look like that?

  3. I know that i used TMPGenc and SmartRipper, VCD EASY and one more I think.......I went from PAL to VCD not SVCD...Also, I checked the compatibility on this site and it said that the Toshiba 2109 doesnt support CD-R or CD-RW(which is what I burned the VCD to).....Still a bit confused...

I'll offer one bit of advice... Patience. I guess if your dvd player won't read CD-R and CD -RW media, you're out of luck. Kepp trying and when you get more specifics, post again.....

Why would I want to keep trying if my DVD player doesnt support it?

Easy, a DVD player that WILL play CD-R and CD-RW media is well under $100. My Apex AD-1100W ($65 at Walmart) would probably play a frisbee if I jammed it in there. Before I even had a cap card I was converting AVI files (from a computer game) and messing around with setting in TMPG. All isn't lost....
