Similar to smearbrick1 post, but describe the movie that had rave reviews, but when you went to see it, it turned out to be a real stinker.

    Here's mine

Lost in Translation - what the hell was that all about
Sideways - I had more fun sticking ball point pens into my eyesockets
Kingdom of Heaven - no cigar here
Code 46 - Code bollocks more like

Finally, any film with Hugh Grant in it. They always do well, but he winds me right up. We must have been mortal enemies in a previous life.

I have to take this opportunity to say that I thought that the first 5 Star Wars movies (eps 1, 2, 4, 5 & 6) were crap, as well as the LOTR trilogy. I haven't seen ep3 so I can't make any judgements.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Apparently it gets better the more times you watch it. I thought it sucked then I watched it again and thought it was OK.

Lost In Translation, Sideways, Garden State, The Pianist, Spinal Tap and Brazil are all quality movies.

I propose The Big Lebowski. Utter crap.

Haha.. a lot say that. I must have seen in a really good mood as I
loved it from the very first second of the weird opening credits the
very first time I saw it. So :P

As far as popular films that I did not think much of or refused to even
    watch:-

Titanic - the one with Leonardo Di Crapiro
Ghostbusters - mostly just dreadful pap
ET - refuse to watch as the 'shorts' still make me insane with violence
Close Encounters - what a load of steaming B**s*it.
    Bad Boys I & II - WTF????
Sideways - I still kick myself for sitting through this ..this... arrgh!!
I Heart Huckleberry - you fart blueberry!!!

VCDhunter:Lost In Translation, Sideways, Garden State, The Pianist, Spinal Tap and Brazil are all quality movies.
I agree, except for Sideways. What was it that you liked about it?

I just found it funny and well acted. The "are you chewing gum ?" line killed me, as did the car crash scene. Also the bit at the wine tasting where he tries to get a full glass raised a chuckle.

I think I liked it most simply because it was different to the usual pap thats out.

I can't believe Spinal Tap has been mentioned. I could watch the bit where they go round in a circle trying to get to the stage, in a loop.

  19. LOTR trilogy. Watched it and thought it was massively overrated. And this is coming from me who lives in NZ.

mind you i never read the book anyway.

    The English Patient.

Most excrusiating movie I've ever encountered (and I've watched Ed Wood movies.)
All my girlfriends loved it but I still can't stand to watch even a minute of it!
I swear, if there's a hell and I were ever to be stuck in pergatory, it would constist simply of an endless screening of this flick.

Napoleon Dynomite - how anyone could watch it twice I'll never know. I would rather watch the mating habits of South American tree frogs on a black and white 13" TV with bunny ears and a fuzzy reception.

LOTR - too much story telling...and it doesn't take 9 hours.

Star Wars - all of them.

Friday night lights - not even close to remember the Titans and not even close to the book.

Ali - come on Will Smith...I like you as an actor, but no one can portray Cashus Clay except himself.

Wizard of Oz - maybe it's because my wife likes to watch it as often as I watch sportcenter, but give me a break and GTFOOH...Ruby slippers, shy unassuming Dorthy...she's not always suprised and so excited and unassuming...I think she should have let the strawman burn up, left the tin man rusted, pimp slapped Glenda, enslaved the munchkins and beat those 3 to death with their lollipops for singing that annoying ass song and said to hell with Aunte Em, stayed in Oz and lived like a queen.

  23. The thing I like most about Wizard of Oz is that most people over look the obvious - Dorothy is schizophrenic...Starts out with Miss Gulch being a threat, so Dorothy runs away from home in order to keep her dog...yet in the end Miss Gulch is no longer a threat nor in the picture when Dorothy returns to her normal state of mind...hmm

There's a reason Pink Floyd's Dark Side of The Moon fits into it

I'm gonna be brave and say I'll be able to live happily ever after without:

    Pulp Fiction
    Kill Bill
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (It's not the worst but it certainly isn't what people try to make it out to be...there's much better out there, trust me :P )
Deep Throat (I understand it for the time it was first released but not decades later )

  29. I found Titanic to be so-so (but not crap); but in my opinion it did not deserve the 11 oscars. I am amazed that it is No. 1 movie as far as box office collections go.
