What software would allow one to extract a song from a DVD movie, and or cut songs(Mp3s) into sections so as to use them as sound bytes for your comp?
Thanks.

Well you could spent a lot of time ripping and converting, however the easiest method is to capture the sound you want. Especially if the final is going to be MP3. Use www.goldwave.com (Also get the MP3 plug-ins) set it up to record, then just play the DVD

What about editing Mp3 files though? like cutting sections out for seperate use? -
Yes, thats why I said to get the MP3 plug-ins, then you can edit/save MP3 WAV or the others !
You will have the MP3 wave form in front of you to cut and paste as new, then save.
Capture all > cut > save as MP3
