  1. I have 28,687 secuential low compresion high resolution JEPG pictures I would like to make into a movie. Does anybody know of an inexpensive program that can do that?. I need the final movie to be in AVI and also need the program to allow some control over the final frame rate.

TMPGEnc does a great job of this ...

make sure they are numbered correct and load first file .. set up your settings (frame rate and cropping for example) and if you want a avi only -- just select file -> save as -> avi (set type and settings) ..

if you need more help - let me know as i do this a LOT ..

  3. You do?

My mother spent about 30 years doing geneology. She has passed on and the family has given it to me for 'publishing'. She didn't do as files on the computer, but it's set up as separate pages in a binder (with original, but old pictures, birth and death certificates)

My goal this winter is to scan the pages and do them up nice on a VCD (background music, parts of old home-movies, etc)

Do you have any pre-start suggestions that will start me off in the right direction?

    Thank you!
    Donna

what it sounds like is that you want each frame to display for some time
(lets say 5 sec each) --

in what i do each frame is a movie frame which displays in 1/24th or 1/30th or 1/60th of a sec ..

if what you want to do is number 1 above .. then there is a post here only a day ago about this very subject with a lot of good advice .. since i dont do them that way .. ((but can be done very easy in adobe premiere as well as severla other programs)).. if you cant find it -- let us know and someone will find it ..

if what you want to do is number two .. then i can help you better..

but first tip i would say -- is dont go and use to high a compression on the jpegs if you want quality ..

  5. Hey thank you very much, I almost feel embarrassed about not knowing that TMPGenc could do this, I've using it for almost a year and I never imagined it could do that. Just did a test with 200 pictures and it looks excellent so far.

TMPGEnc has a couple of features that though fairly hidden and not used by almost anybody (except me and a few others) are comparable to - and in fact the closest product - costs $5000 (not CCE) and next one after that is about 50,000 on up from there ....

which makes tmpgenc even more of a bargin because the quality (though not always the speed) is about the same ..

Another piece of software you might try is Slide Show Movie Maker. You can find it at joern-thiemann.de/tools/ssmm/download.htm. It is freeware. One nice thing about SSMM is that it enables to you put in transitions between the slides, control the timing, add sound tracks, do panning, etc. It's really pretty slick with a great price. Hope this helps.
