  1. I have a 10 minute film (mine - no encryption) on DVD. It consistes of approx 20 individual sections that I need to seperate and edit, so presumably (?) I need to convert back to .avi or mpeg2 so that I can load back into Premiere.

Can anyone tell me how to do this please. I cannot believe this is such an unusual thing to do. When everything goes DVD, how the hell are we to load the files back in to work on them?

Running XP home by the way which seems to have a lot of issues with things like infoedit

As log as you have a DVD rom drive you can always rip DVDs to your hard drive. See DVD ripping to the left here.

If its your DVDr then its probly not encrypted, so you can skip the first part and just copy all the associated files (vobs, info ..ect) to the hard drive and go from there.

ok...get DVD2avi from the tools section here....
Click open and select the first VOB with the browser...it will select all remaining on its own (ie 2, 3 ect ...if they are there)
Click save project....It will output two files...a ***.d2v and a **.wav.
The d2v file will index the vobs so a program like TMPG can use em...the wav file is the entire sound track in wav format.

Get TMPG from tools section....for source video chose the d2v file you just made....for source audio choose the wav file you just made...make up a name for the file.

Click load and load a template for what you want to do.....dvd vcd svcd ...ect.... NOW....if you want mpeg 2 choose a dvd template....click start....it is slow...but the resulting file will be a mpg file (in mpeg2 format). This is the standard process for going from dvd to mpg.

    Is that what you wanted??

You could load the VOB's into TMPGEnc browse > (*.*)

Then use the source range to separate each one, to a DVD template.

If you have TMPGEnc Plus 2.58, you need to install Power DVD 4, for the Mpeg 2 codec....

  6. Once you have loaded the VOB or D2V in TMPGEnc, then simply choose:

File | Output To File | Save As AVI

This should convert the file back to AVI so that you may edit it in your fav program.

    Good luck!
