As I stated in another thread, I was trying every dvd player I could fine to see if any of them would play mpeg-1 files on mixed mode CDA/MODE2-XA discs, meant for sega dreamcast. Today, I did find one, the 5131. It had a cool file dir menu, that it looked like it would probably play anything. Of course the issue with this, is I don't need a microphone or karaoke, or a 3 disc changer, or the $120 price tag. I tried the cheaper AD-1200, and it said no disc, and appeared to have no such file menu. I guess what I'm wondering is, A. is there a code to get this menu on the 1200, or B, maybe one of the older 1 disc apex players does, any thoughts? thanks.

I certainly seem to be good at starting dead threads. I'm just trying to find out of any other apex models whether it be the 1500,1600, or 2100, or even one of the older ones, have this file menu as compatible as the one on the 5131.

700 and up have file browser access. If it does not activate check
your firmware / loader flash versions. -
I thank you kindly for the response. The reason I mentioned the 5131 specifically is because the one in the stored properly read and played these funky mixed mode discs with vbr mpg1 on them. I tried the ad-1200 in the store, and it said no disc. I kinda wonder now if this might have something to do with the firmware having or not having vcd support. Kmart and walmart one or the other is supposed to have the 1100 or 1500 according to the apex site. I'll probably have to buy those just to test them. In the mean time it'd be nice of somebody could clarify what could cause one player and not the other, to play that type of disc. BTW, NONE of the other players or brands I've tried would play these discs properly, and I tried a lot.

I try to 1500 it work with mix of mpeg and mp3 file on the cd. There is a possible chance of putting a hard drive inside the player. Will test it but first i need a 1500 model.
There is always one who is always greater. Never give up. -
My 1500 puts up the file browser menu and lets me select different files to play and even lists mp3..VCD...ect....Plays the mp3's ...but it just shows black screen on the iso mpg's.

Sounds odd --- though you said it works with mp3's --- probably means you could resolve the issue just by putting either a dummy blank mp3 file on the disc or a real short one.
