I've ripped a few DVD's with smart ripper and dvd decrypter but I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong ripping " Murder By Numbers ". The VOB's won't even open in DVD2AVI and when I play them with Power DVD, the screen is filled with colored squares that looks like a puzzle. Is there a setting I missed with smart ripper or dvd decrypter ??? I tried ripping another dvd and it looks fine.

i ripped that movie fine w/ smartripper
sounds like the vobs weren't decrypted very well on yours
(also, w/ dvddecryptor make sure you goto options and enable multi-angle processing)
i'm not sure if that'll help w/ the blocks, but best explaination is that the vobs weren't decrypted very well and that's why you have blocks all over the place...try again (or download another version and rerip)
