Hullo,
I got an Amd Athlon Xp 2000+ with 512 megs of sdram and 80 gigs hd. I also have an ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 7500. I was wondering what codecs, resolutions and softwares to use for video capturing and editing. I normally use a sony Handycam Vision ccd-trv57 (that's ntsc) and composite or rca line-in. I want to capture my video from my hi8 tapes, edit it on my computer and then transfer it back to vhs of hi8, and maybe even burn it as a vcd....I tried many softwares but i always get a blur in the motion of my caracters in the video. If someone could help me I would be trully gratefull...thanx....

I don't have as much experience with this as some, but here goes. If it seems you are getting "blurriness" and not "blockiness" with motion then try adjusting the Motion Search Precision on the bottom of the Video tab in TMPGEnc to a higher setting. As you adjust the Motion Search Precision to higher setting to higher qualities it takes longer and longer to encode the video. Also, a few capture programs, have a similar setting (for example the ATI MMC has a Motion Estimation Quality setting) You can find this by editing a Capture Preset under Set Custom on the Digital VCR tab. I use an ATI AIW 7500 myself and both help (although I don't use the later much because I usually use VirtualDub to capture.)
