I looked over my old DivX files and found that "Fight Club" was the only file that had a framerate of 29.97 fps. This movie is more than important to me, so I cheked the file and found that it should have been inverse telecined, but it didn't, instaed it was deinterlaced by blending the fields (so I have "ghost" effects), I can tell that by the pattern of the movie: progressive frame, then 2 deinterlaced frames (originally interlaced) and 2 more progressive.
Now I want to do IVTC but affraid to destroy the movie, I actualy tried to do it in VDub (Using 'Reconstruct from blurry fields - manual') but the result was just the same framerate, only a file larger by 6 MB. I guess it was becuase under "Frame Rate' I just left it at no change.
So if anyone can explain how to do the progress the best way in VDub i'll be very gratefull.
Just one more question: if I will do the IVTC, will the video and audio go out of sync?

I'd try to use avisynth with decomb, but you'll have to play with the settings to get it to deinterlace the blurry stuff.
The thing is, because someone used "blend" to remove the comb effects originally, if you inverse telecine to 24fps you will see combing. Seriously. I don't think there is a way to save that file or to get "back" quality that has been lost. -
I have to agree with MITSUI_1 the ghosting from the blend has already been physically encoded into the frames of the AVI there's really no way to undo that. IVTC won't really help since the AVI wasn't telecine it was deinterlaced with a blend. If the movies that important to you, you're much better off renting it and ripping it or downloading it again from someone who ripped it right.

the only hope of perhaps getting it may be to save out the whole thing to frames -- and work with those ...
ideally in a compositing software .. -
...or try dscaler
