    Yes it works. If you rip from dvd use ifoedit to keep all extra stuff such as the subtitles, derrow and doom9 have some great guides www.vcdhelp.com/dvdripping#dvd . If you are thinking of making selectable subtitles yourself you must have authoring tool that handle it such as dvd maestro, pinnacleeeee something or similiar(they are very expensive).
