    Hi guys,

Sorry if I am asking a stupid question.
I understand that color system on Europe is PAL-G and/or SECAM depending on the country.

So, if I have some video recorded on MINI-DV ( on a SONY DV Camcorder, which I suppose records on NTSC ) ...

When I capture this video through a Studio DV firewire capture card,
and then encode it using TMPGEnc, as MPEG2 for DVD or MPEG1 for VCD,
will the authored DVD-R or VCD be playable on standalone DVD player / TV sets , on Europe ?

    Thank's for clarifying ...

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

Thank's for replying. It is a TRV 900 which was bought in USA ( I suppose it is NTSC ) . Problem is that I have to produce a DVD and/or a VCD , from Mini-DV captured through this camera ( it is not mine, and I did not to the shooting ), but this DVD and/or VCD will be sent to England and France. So, my concern is, how ( if possible ) to produce ( capture, encode and author ) DVD and VCD , to be compatible with color systems on those countries.

If you want to make it 100% for Europe, use a PAL VCD/DVD template in TMPGEnc... No problem in France either !

However, all modern DVD players in Europe will play NTSC, and so will the TV !. Even though France has a different system for the TV transmissions, they will also display PAL.

If you visit Cite Europe in France, they sell the most up-to-date equipment around, with plasma screens the size of a room.
