  1. I downloaded a tv episode in mpeg format... then i used NERO5590 to copy the episode to a CDR...

I verified that my panasonic DVD player will play VCDs, but when i attempt to play the episode, the dvd does not recognize the disc.. it just keeps saying "no disc."

what could i possibly be doing wrong? my husband said that he thought that perhaps the mpeg type that i downloaded might not be the right mpeg type.. i read the faq about it, but am having a hard time..

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well you can try using VCDeasy. It will tell you ( nero would have as well ) if it's compliant or not.

But that is not the only thing that could be wrong here. First off have you check ALL of the comments in the DVD player database on this site. Many of the provide insight into simple problems like the one you are experiencing. Some players are more sensitive to the use of good media. Some players only accept CD-RW.

    Good luck and keep trying.

If your DVD player says "no disc" after trying a number of times, then it's most likely the media it doesn't like. Most DVD players will at least display the directory structure if it's not in a correct VCD/SVCD format.

  4. Thanks
I am going to purchase a different type of CD-Rs today and see if that will fix my problem.
