  1. Hallo, I'm sorry to bother but I'm really new and have some questions:

    1) I understood I can insert subtitles with vdub and then frameserve the movie straight to my favorite encoder(TMPEGen), but when I open Start fram. from vdub File a windows comes out asking the name of framserver and I don't know what to do.Then I should save a .vdr sign post and I have same problem.
    Coul you help me please??

Come up with a name you can remember for the .vdr file when you go TMPGEnc. Continue your guide's steps and it will work out fine. A lot of us do it all the time.
    Hello.

  3. Tks for yr reply but, well, it's not so easy. I tried to put an anyname.vdr but TMPEG doesn't recognize it. Now I red an article where they say I have to change the vdub 1.4.10 handler with vdub 1.4.9 handler but I can't find vdub 1.4.9 anywhere, I went on the official site but I saw many versions (aux, source etc.) and no one is working.
My first question was which is the frameserver name??When I start to frameserve this little window pops out with the file's name like "spiderman.avi" asking me the frameserver name, should I leave the name of the file?

    Tks a lot

Yes, go ahead and leave the name as whatever you like. When you bring up TMPGEnc and select the video input, remember to select "all files" to be able to load the .vdr file.

  5. Ok, tks a lot for your help, I must say this is the best forum I'v found.
One more question, do you think it's better to subtitle a movie when is still in avi or after all the setting to fit it on one cd?I mean, when I frameserve to TMPEG the subt synchro is going to change or not?

    Tks

I never had a problem with subtitle synchro going out with frameserving. I do not know if it can happen, I just never had it happen to me.
    Hello.

  7. Tommyknocker is right: frameserving doesnt change the sync, but it could be that the subtitle file you downloaded is not synchronised for your movie. So you better let TMPG first do a small part of the movie(till after the first few spoken sentences). Then check wether the words and the subs are in sync. If they are not, use for example Sub Station Alpha to adjust the timings.

  8. Ok J, thank you, I usually watch my subt with Subviewer to sync them, but I was in trouble when I tried to fit a movie in one cd with TMPEG, then my subt failed.Do you hv any suggestion?

  9. Hi there,
I hv a movie with 12 fps and the subt 23,976, can I change the movie fps with Vdub before the frameserving?and what abt the audio sync?
Tks for your help, I'm just hungry to know more, you know, when you start to do something you like...

  10. Could you specify what you mean with 'my subs failed'? Is it that the timing is correct in the beginning but goes out of sync when the movie advances? Or is it something else?

But when I go and try to load that .vdr file it says unsupported file or something like that! It doesn't recognize it as a real video file.

  13. Hi, I would like to quote myself from a previous message I wrote in another topic area. I deals with error with frameserveing from virtualdub to tmpeg where tmpeg says it does not reconize the file from virtualdub. I'm using Virtualdub 1.4.10 and it works fine after I fixed one little problem. Well, here's my copy-and-paste from the other topic and I hope this will benefit somebody with similar problems I had.

"Hi, I would like to stop by and say to whoever wrote the guide at http://www.vcdhelp.com/virtualdubframeserve.htm has one little mistake. You see, I followed the guide step-by-step and at the end, I couldn't get Virtualdub to frameserve into Tmpeg. I read all the post in this topic area and followed each and everybody's advice but still I couldn't get frameserving to work. Everytime I tried to do it, I get an error saying "File c:\capture\video.vdr.avi can not open, or unsupported". I tried everything from uninstalling Virtualdub 1.4.10 and installing 1.4.9 and installing the Handler from 1.4.9 but still nothing. I even change in VFAPI plugin the priority level for "Directshow..." to highest and nothing. I even downloaded MSVCR70.dll into windows\system32 but still gave me that error. I changed everything back to the way it was in Tmpeg, uninstall 1.4.9 with removing the handler and installed 1.4.10 again. Then I decided to try one last thing. Instead of putting "video.vdr.avi", I put "video.avi.vdr" and what do you know, that sucker worked. Tmpeg recognized the file and now I'm able to frameserve. For a newbie, I was about to go crazy!!!

If anybody out there is still having trouble, maybe reading this will help, but I not sure since it worked for me. I am running Win98se PIII 800, 128mb RAM, AIW Radeon 7500, 20GB Hard drive, and Virtualdub 1.4.10 is running good now that I fixed that problem with Tmpeg."

Interesting...I'll have to try that but I finally (after very similar steps to those you have taken) got it to work by increasing the priority level for "Directshow..." to the highest.

This all seems very strange though. I still think it worked by accident. I'll have to try another file!
