  1. What player should I get? - My Apex died

My Apex AD-3201 DVD player just died after 6mo of service . The tray stopped ejecting and it makes a very bad noise while trying to do so.

I called apex and they are willing to fix it for $49.00. They said that very few of there players have ever had this problem and almost no one had ever called in about it. Is it worthwhile to fix a $100 player for $49 or should I just get a new one.

If I should get a new one what sub $200 player is best for playing DVD+R's? It would also be nice to have s video out. I think I would like to stay away from apex if possible.

One of the reasons I bought it is because it reads both DVD+R and DVD-R just fine. Also I believe it is one of the few that will read mp3's on a DVD+RW however I have yet to try it.

BTW if your in the states BestBuy sells a cheap DVD player the Mintek DVD-1600 and this player will play both DVD+R and DVD-R even though it doesn't say it anywhere on the box or manual. It sells for $54 USD. It has S-video out but no component out.

  5. RCA rc5240p has been the best DVD player for me. Plays all my vcd's on cd-r and cd-rw. I use Memorex. Played a dvd-r that I already had.
