  1. I was looking at this dvd burner and been reading here about that it has a pioneer drive in it so it seems like a good buy at $249.99. It doesn't list in the paper what speed it is but i guess the 2X burn speed is about it right now...just a question on burn speed, how long does it take to burn a full DVD? A 4.7 disk i'm not sure how much video time it holds, 2 hours maybe? So does it take 4 hours? Thanks....asking now before i buy..

A 1x drive burns a full disc in about 1 hour. A 2x drive on a 2x-compatible disc will burn it in 1/2 hour. It doesn't matter how long the video plays for; it could be 4.7GB of data files - it will take 60 minutes to burn the whole disc at 1x. I usually use the write and verify options when burning, so my times are doubled (120 minutes or 60 minutes).

I should have added - I bought the Cendyne back in April and it has worked extremely well. I've previously mentioned in a couple forums that it says Pioneer on the drive (nowhere does it say Cendyne). Only the inventory label on the box said Cendyne.

  7. Officemax still selling for 249 after rebate. It is Pio-104 model. You can buy external case and make it external burner case costs only 59 (i-link and usb). Nero has no problem recognizing it.

  8. you guys are sure it a pioneer a04 clone? any proof. i'm not disagreeing with you... i'm hoping to get a A04 for my birthday and this would be sweet if this is the same drive.

could the a04 firmware be used on this drive?

anybody? sorry if i'm impatient but I think this deal is only good this week and i'd have to arrange it with my parents.

also is the dvr-104 the same as the CDICD00106 part number?

  9. Cendyne only market the drive and OEMed the drive, in this case from pio. there is no such thing as cloned. very few companies make dvd-r drives.
