  1. This is all new to me but at last I seem to be getting somewhere I am trying to convert a file downloaded off the web into something which will play in my standalone dvd player. At first tmpgenc kept toppling over but the reason for this was the file I was trying to encode a file that contained compressed audio. I ran the file through the avi2mpg programme and it created a new file which is recognised by tmpgenc, so far so good but the problem now is that I can re-encode the file to mpeg2 but there is no sound. All this is being done in win98se, but as I have a dual boot system I tried it in xp, now the wild thing here is that xp always wants to go on line to download a missing codec so when I let it, it finds the file(whatever it is) from somewhere downloads it and plays back the file audio and all but as soon as I press stop on the windows media player it freezes, so after fiddling with the ctrl alt del key to end task I reopen the player and yes you've guessed it back on line to download the codec which its already downloaded hmmmmmm....... What can I do to get the audio working with the video in Win 98se, XP seems unreliable.

    Heres to hoping

  2. First of all download the Nimo Codec Pack .
    then
You can try extracting the audio first and saving as a WAV and use the resulting WAV a s the audio source in TMPGE.
