How do you think the quality of a 2000kbps SVCD would compare if I use 2 pass VBR vs. CBR? Is the quality difference astounding? Just wondering if any encoder veterans have done a test such as this...would be even better to see some kind of movie clip comparisons of something like this.

2000 VBR ( MAX OF 2500 ) should produce remarkably better video than a CBR 2000 encode. This is becuase of the encoders ability to maximize bitrate for harder scenes without resorting to ugly macroblocking.

What if the source video is from a VHS tape and there is a fair amount of noise (compared to a DVD rip for example)....would the difference still be quite large?
Have any tests like this been posted or documented on a webpage etc.
