  1. Hi there.

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to tmpg, but i am quite experienced at encoding xvid stuff - so....

My friend emailed me some nice pics off our holiday and i want to send him a funny 20 second clip from one of my buffy encodes so i thought i would use mpeg1 as his works computer should play this (asking him to install xvid on his works computer just to play my clip would worry him for sure!) But.....

Every resolution or bitrate i try gves the same file size (3.97MB). I have picked vcd (pal) template initially and then the 'unlock template' to adust resolution and bitrate (224x192 @600kbs) - STILL 3.97 MB!!!!

Please help as it has anoyed me so much that i won't let it beat me. If i can't send it within the next few hours it won't be funny anymore (timing and context crucial!)

    Thanks in advance

If you look at this site, you can get an account, download its avi to asf converion utility. Convert your avi to asf, upload it to this site, and email the video's link to it. I do not know how long it will take, but it is worth a shot.http://www.videomailstudio.com

  3. Hey thanks Tommyknocker,
I may have to look into that option. But i am intrigued as to why tmpg can't do this. Right clicking the mpegs gives '4min 19 sec' runtime when they are only about 23 seconds long?????
Be interesting to know whats going on anyway.

    Thank again
