Everything seems to work fine except when I let the capture go on to its limit, i had to leave it go tonite to cap WWE while i went out and the program kept capturing up to 4.whatever gigs but the file wont play, can't open it in virtualdub either.. any ideas?

    winxp pro sp1
    nvidia capture WDM 1.16
used picvideo to capture this file that went to 4gigs and now wont play.

    any idea's?

    Thanx

My suggestion is get a hard drive dedicated for your video capturing and editing which in NTFS format.

maybe you don't understand but having dual boot probably gives you a better vantage point when converting to NTFS, while in one OS you can convert the paritition where the second OS resides to NTFS without losing any of the data on that paritition/drive. Repeat for the 1st OS on the other partition/drive.

That assumes both of his OS' read NTFS, which they probably don't or else he would probably be using NTFS. I agree with hkmak that you should probably get another drive or partition and make that one NTFS and use that solely for your video. Sure it would only be readable by one of your OS' but who cares...

As for your question which I assume is how to salvage your AVI, I'm afraid I don't have much to offer... Probably what's going on with Picvideo is something similar to divx where if the file is unfinished the whole thing is unreadable. I know there is a program that repairs divx files so that portions of them can be played (don't remember the name but its in the tools section I believe). Maybe try it on your avi and see if that helps you any. There might also be one written for Picvideo if that is indeed your problem.

yeah Bel hit it on the mark, i need to be able to access all my drives from both OS's.. and the other is win98se fat32. And that yes i'd really just like to salvage this 4gig avi that i have here.
everything i have tried to play it in has given me the 'invalid file format' or 'cannot find proper decompressor' that kinda shit, but i am sure that i had it set on picvid.. either way i capped it so i should have the codec it needs eh?

know what that tool is called..
    thanx
