i download a dvd rip in (divx).avi format with a high resolution its the first divx ive converted but also its the only avi file ive converted which looks any good my settings in tmpgenc where 2000 kbps per sec 25fprs which was a pal vcd have these settings helped me to create a good coversion or is it the divx that as helped me or the fact of the high resoulution that as help me get a good vcd, if someone could clear this up it would be most appreciated also the only let down is that it is a bit jurky is there something i could set to help this out. thanks in advance.

WOW long sentence....
A high quality DivX can be a good source for VCD's. The fact that it's still a bit jerky maybe that the DivX has a framerate of 23.976fps. When converting it to PAL (25fps) every second 1.024 frame is added. This makes the picture "stutter" every second.
If your TV supports NTSC or if you play the VCD on a PC leave the framerate of the VCD to 23.976fps. Otherwise try the method I posted here once:

It's lengthy, but you'll lose the annoying jerky movement. Somehow there are some DivX's that won't convert this way. Fortunately most will.
