    Hi all,

As I am into buying a new PC, I've ran through lots of posts on this forum the past couple of weeks and have run through numerous internetpages regarding all kinds of hardware. As I am almost at the point of buying I still have a small question:

I would like to do some basic video capture to either (software) MJPEG or Huffyuv compressed AVI and either keep them in MJPEG or convert them to MPEG1 or MPEG2. I am also considering a Canopus ADVC-1394 that will do realtime analog to DV conversion (and capture).

The question (as this is the playback forum) is: Will I be able to output MPEG1/2, MJPEG and DV (not at the same time) to TV (and VCR) with a videocard like the ATI radeon 9000 Pro, in full screen with reasonable quality?

I suppose all is possible (with a 2.4GHz P IV), but I'm not sure with the DV-compressed AVI standard. I would like to hear some users that have actually done this.

    Thanks in advance,

    Marijn

  2. I see no reason why this should not work just fine. The only standard here that I have not tried is DV, but that should not pose any problems as long as your hard drive and CPU can keep up, which it sounds like it ise perfectly capable of doing. I am using a Radeon 8500 128mb and all video formats I have tried, including DivX, MPEG-1/2, etc. look great.\

  3. Hi

I have the Radeon9000Pro Vivo and I have no Probs capturing full Resolution with 25fps (pal).
I have a 7200 HDD, so its fast enough for huffyuff.

But you can also capture direcly from analog to DV avi if you can get a WDM DV Codec (Maincocept has one).
