no picture on Media player - Divx Avi

Hi, I am new to all of this and I am sure this is very simple, but.

I downloaded a Divx / Avi file (the title says tigger movie DivX.avi- 625MB)

I double click and windows media player (version 7.01) plays sound but no picture. I just get a swirl of colors.

Do I need a new or updated player?

Also, I will also then want to use this on my DVD player that supports SVCD and VCD. Which one is easier to convert to. I think I will want SVCD because it is a higher quality if it is not more difficult.

Sounds like you need to install the codec's for DIVX
