  1. I wrote a .bin svcd file to 4x1 Memorex CDRW's and they play fine in my DVD player. However after writing to the disks I can then no longer erase them using a Mac. I have tried everything but I get these odd errors. I managed to completely erase one using Disk Utility but when I went to use it again it failed . Is this a known issue? This has happed using 6 different disks so either I have a bad batch or something strange is up...

  2. I'm having a similar problem, kind of. I have mastered burning SVCD to cdrw's (Memorex in fact) but once I started trying to include a menu I ran into problems.

With both MisingMenuGen and VCDbuilder, once I build an svcd:

    A) DVD player thinks it's a vcd, not svcd, but fails to come up with a menu and fails to play any segments.

    B) The mac will display the disc name, and give me a valid get info box, but will not display the files and WILL NOT EJECT!. I can drag it around the screen, try to eject, but it on't go away. Tried to kick it with the finder, and other stuff with no luck. It hangs Toast completely. I have to paper clip eject the disc to getthe sucker out and reboot to regain control.

Never had this touble till I started to put on a menu screen.

Like I daid, I had no problem building scvd's with multiple segments, the disc was fine on the dvd player and the mac.

Not specifically the Memorex CDRW's but Memorex Cd's in General I have had a problem with in the past. Out of a 20 or 25 pack I got like 4 to burn.
And that was with some tinkering and several showdowns with the Finder!
I called Apple And they said the best CD media to use is either "imation" or "Verbatim". I personally use imation it works in all DVD Players, Cd players, (including car and portable) and pc's that I have tried.

Never used Verbatim though. I have also had excellent results with Teon branded cd's

Not sure about the CDRW on DVD/VCd issue, but Memeorex has given me some problems.

  4. Just thought i'd give my 2 cents.

I've burned about 150 Memorex CDR's and NEVER had a failure. I've not tried MP3 discs or SVCD's (my player doesn't support it but I have used them for VCD's

    They're cheap and I'm cheerful

I too have no problems with either the 74 minute CDR or CDRW disks from Memorex. It's the 80 minute CDRW's which write once but then never again (:

Note that there is a way to trick your DVD player into playing SVCD. My Panasonic doesn't support SVCD either but I can fool it. The info is on this site (and there's also a thread called pseudo SVCD's which discusses the issue).
