  1. I'm doing the "How to create VCD menus and chapters with VCDEasy". I'm stuck on step D (add chapters) where he says to refer to other guides to create chapters. Which guides? Is there something on creating entry points? My display say "Number of possible chapter entry points: 1", what did I miss?? Thanks in advance.

  2. You've got problems as your MPEG only contains 1 MPEG sequence header. You need regular sequence headers (generally, one before each GOP) to make entrypoints / chapters.

You may be able to fix this by using MPEG Sequence Maker... Read this article for more details: http://www.vcdimager.org/guides/chapters.html

  3. Thanks for the guidance, but it seems that everything I try to look at from vcdimager.org dies (as if it's a dead link). Does it work for you, or, do you have a different source for the doc? Thanks

  4. Seems to work for me, but I'm in Australia...

However, there is a mirror here:

  5. Thanks, that link worked. Actually, I had already read it (from another link I found). I'm still stuck on the header part. A couple of questions:

    1. Do I use MpegSequeceMaker to get the sequence points inserted into the header, or does TMPGEnc do that? It sounds like I have to demux with "MpegSequeceMaker" and remux with TMPGEnc.

    2. When I ran MpegSequeceMaker it seemed to want an MPV file, rather than MPG. It complained about the file and continued. But I still didn't get any difference in VCDEasy (one chapter point).

    3. I feel like I'm out-in-left-field here (that's an American saying for clueless and lost). Is there a guide that explains this part of the process. I found a reference to Sefys guide to chapter and entrypoints, but couldn't find it on the site.

    Thanks again for the help.

  6. Ok, never mind, I figured it out. I had an into, menu, and movie in the movie list. I hadn't noticed that the "Chapters" display defaults to the first clip in the list. It was showing me the information for the into (first clip in the list). When I swlitched to the movie I had lots of entrypoints.

I ended up reading a god-awful lot of documentation on vcd. Guess I know more now(??)!!

  7. To use MPEG Sequence Maker, you need the elementary video stream.

That is, you need to demux the video first (e.g., you can use TMPGEnc).

Then, run the MPV file through MPEG Sequence Maker and and it add the sequence headers.

Then, use TMPGEnc or bbMPEG to remultiplex the new MPV file with the old MP2 (the audio) file to get your new MPEG.

  8. Thanks again for the help, but I got TEMPEgenc to work. By the way, is there an advantage to doing it with Sequence Maker?

  9. MPEG Sequence Maker does not demux or remux anything.

All it does is processes an elementary video stream and adds sequence headers before each gop. This is needed for regular entrypoints.

The reason to do this is that some MPEG encoders (e.g., Panasonic) don't put regular sequence headers.

If you are encoding with TMPGEnc and using the VCD templates, this is NOT necessary.
