  1. hello, i'm new to this and was hoping someone could give me a hand with this problem i am having.

i used nero to create vcds of .mpg files and it seemed to keep the exact same size. they work fine.

the problem i am having is with a 694 MB .avi file. i know that when i watch it as an .avi in windows media player it is very good quality. it said in the filename itself that it is a dvd rip. anyways when i use nero to make a vcd of this file, it takes about 2 hours to convert (my computer is super fast) and then the file size is 1200 MB. nero gives me the error message that the file is too large for the cd (obviously) but no option is given to split it over two cds (actually vcds in this example).

i am not completely stupid, i did a bit of searching around this site (it rocks! by the way...) and read about a program to do this called TMPGenc. there is even a user guide to help with the de-multiplexing, but this is where i am having difficulties. it seems to want to split the audio and video. i just want 2 files that i can burn as vcds.

any help in this would be greatly appreciated .... thanks.

This guide uses TMPGEnc to split mpeg files:

I wouldn't use nero to convert the file to a vcd. Use Tmpgenc to convert and split it and then burn it using nero. Look here how to do that
