    Does Dish Network or DirecTV have better quality? So does one have higher rez or one has more mbit/sec or whatever.

    I don't know about bitrate, but to my eyes it is DirecTV hands down. I had DirecTV for almost 2 years (ouch! I am getting old) and loved MOST of the channels' quality-some of course sucked ass. My grandmother, however switched service to DishNetwork for free installation (among other things) and I think that it looks like crap. I even hooked her up an S-Video cable and it was still blah. Of course, she couldn't tell the difference between the co-ax and the s-video you gotta love grandmothers....
