  1. I am just about to order a Pioner A04 DVD-RW to burn disks for my Pioneer 656.

I am currently using Win98. I understand that Win98 is not ideal for this kind of thing so the question is, which OS do I use? Are there any advantages of XP over 2000 or v.v.?

I will mainly be using my burner for making backups of my DVDs for viewing on my player, so I expect to be copying some big DVDs.

(My Spec: Asus A7V266-SWA ATX motherboard, AMD ATHLON-XP 1600+, 512Mb DDR ram)

    Any advice welcome. Cheers.

  2. first of all you will need the ntfs filing system so it can handle your
dvd rips cause fat32 wont handle files larger than 4gb this is why win98
is no good for what you need to do.

personaly i use xp pro rather than win2000 just because win2000
was not compatible with a lot of other programs i use and i found
that a lot when i did have win2000.

so basically if i was you i would install xp with the ntfs filing system.

For the non-gamer I found 2000 just as fast as XP give or take for applications. Both are faster and more stable than Win98.
