Hey!
As a purchaser of original vcds I thought it might interest some people with my "review" of The Star Trek collection.
Movies: This collection is not what you would call a "complete" collection. It contains the first 7 movies, the last being "Generations". Not included are "First Contact" and "Insurrection"(The movies included are in it's description, so it's not like you are being duped).
Movie Reviews: I won't bore you with this. Chances are if you're thinking of buying this set you've seen some, if not all of them. Note:I and V were less than thrilling for me.
Quality: I was very pleased with the quality of these vcds. All of these movies look very good and should keep most people happy. For those that are curious about an NTSC vcd(I was), Star Trek II is done in that format. It actually looked slightly better to me than the rest, but that could just be me convincing myself it did.
Packaging: The one thing I was very disapointed with. I am not referring to the shipping packaging but the jewel cases.
All seven movies come in double jewel cases which are placed in an art covered box(cardboard). The discs themselves are labeled with art as well, but the cases are not. This is disapointing for someone who likes the cover sleeve artwork(like me), but it also means you can't store them with your other vcds unless you make your own side labels. Hardly a nightmare, but if you're considering buying this set you should know that.
Price: I bought this set from Eureka Movies for $26.30. They normally sells this for $29 and change but I had them match the price at Videomas.com. The shipping was $6.97(DHL) and it came in three days.
Conclusion: I am pretty pleased with my purchase especially considering I wouldn't buy all these movies on dvd(too expensive), and can watch some of them back to back. This set is listed at some sights as high as $48.00(are they kidding) so I recommend you do what I did for the best deal. With the VCD Help discount and any Eureka dollars you have, you'd be hard pressed to do better(if you can, great!)

I hope some of this was of some interest to you. Later.
