  1. ReMpeg2 question:
I have ran ReMpeg2 on multiple computer systems and want to know if everyone has the same wait period as I do and it's the software and not a hardware bottle neck. It takes me 8 hours to transcode a 7-9 Gig movie to a 4.0 gig size, is this normal? The latest system was a Gateway 700S 256MB RDRAM 2.2GHz P4 512L 2 Cache 7200rpm HD.

    Nero question:
When I make my DVD's I use Nero and burn them over to DVD's as data files and they work on all 4 of 4 players now. Anyone else just burn them as data files? The whole make a ISO image thing got me so frustrated that I just decided to use the "make a data DVD" and they work for me.
I burn over the Video_ Files and Audio_Files as two separate folders and whal-la they work. 8)
From past experience with VCD and SVCD I know that would not work but for the DVD's it does. Anyone else have experince with this?
    They play in Sony-DVD Rom
    RCA
    Toshiba
    HP-DVD Rom

  2. ReMPEG2 is very slooooow. For better quality, use TMPGEnc or CCE. For best speed, use CCE. ReMPEG2 was taking me up to 8 hrs (for 2 hr movie), TMPGEnc was taking around 2-2.5 hrs for a single pass of CQ_VBR, CCE takes about 1 hr for each VBR pass. As far as I am concerned, CCE is the way to go.

For Nero, I use the last DVD template on the list (UDF/ISO) and manually create the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders myself. Works fine for me so far, although many people complain that Nero is terrible for burning DVD's. I would like to try PrimoDVD, but I can't get it to recognize my Pioneer as a burner yet :/
