  1. I downloaded a DIVX AVI of a movie, and it's 840MB in length. Nero won't let me burn it, of course. If I try to burn it in CD-ROM format, it complains that I'm trying to burn 803MB while my media can hold only 703MB. If I try to burn it to SVCD or VCD format, it wants to encode it.

All I want to do is burn the thing so I can watch it on my CD-ROM drive...I don't want to have to watch it from my HDD. And I don't want to waste time converting it or reencoding the bitrate to make it smaller.

Is there a way to do this, or am I out of luck?

    Thanks!

  2. Well, you have 2 choices.

Choice one is to buy a cdr that holds over 800mb. http://www.yesbuy.net/90min80cdr16.html
These things are relatively expensive, and may not work with your software, your cd writier hardware, or both, so you'll have to look into that if you're even willing to spend 6 bucks on a 10 pack of cds (I've seen 50 packs of 80 minute cds for less on sale).

Your second choice is to break up your divx file into 2 smaller files. You'll need to find some software that can do this. I believe VirtualDub can do the trick, you'll just have to use direct stream copy on both the audio and video setting so that it doesn't re-encode the video (it should go by pretty quick).

    Good luck!
