My standalone DVD player supports DVCD - I'm trying to play mini DVD dormat, are they the same? If not could someone explain the DVCD format please? Thanks.

miniDVD is a DVD image burnt onto CD media. They work in very very few stand-alone players.
DVCD is essentially a normal VCD that has been produced in way to increase play time -- i.e., it has nothing to do with miniDVD.
