  1. When grabbing VCD/SVCDs from the net, most folks post in two parts for two CDs. I want to re-encode these files to fit on one disc. I am having trouble merging the two files though. Lose sync. Any ideas?? What is your favorite method??

    Thanks!!

Try encoding them to what you want first then merge them.

joining mpeg2 files is difficult. TMPEG can't do it. loses synch (as I am sure you have found out). i don't do cause it is so difficult. but if you search the forum I am sure that you will be able to find a way.

what I would try: I have never done this, cause I don't reencode video files cause, IMO, the quality is shit, but you could give this a go:

demux your stream then use dvd2avi to frameserve to a .d2v. Then add and re-encode.
    End of Line.

There is a program called Twins File Merger that will combine two (or more) mpegs into one long file. There is a shareware version but it has some limitations - you can only merge two files and you can only run the program 5 times...but it should work nicely for you. Registration for the program is $15.

  10. Joining or cutting MPG2, particularly VBR, seems to be very difficult. SFAIK, M2-Edit is one of the very few programs that seems to be able to handle this. If you find another one, POST HERE!!!
