Unsuccessful at encoding SVCD

Need help. Iam a newbie, but have read all this site.

Several problems seem unfathomable.

I have an LG CD RW 8240B writer on a P4 1.6GHz machine
My standalone player is SONY DVP-S345

I have successfully captured video from Sony DV via Firewire to .AVI

I have successfully converted to VCD format Using TMPGEnc, and Burned disks using VCDEasy which plays on my Standalone DVD player.

I have tried to do the same but in SVCD format, but my player won't read anything. I followed the guide provided here. No success.

Any advice on what I can try next?

I tried this using Nero 5.5+, but it does not have a SVCD plugin so no good. Also, the Nero came with an A-Open CD writer which I sold and replaced with the LG unit. The Software recognises the LG but won't write to it as it was bundled with the A-open unit. Is there anything I can do for this?

I can't find your DVD player in the DVD compatibility list on this site (DVD p[layers, left of page) but it looks like many SONY players won't play SVCD's.

You could always try the 'VCD Header trick'. Search the forum for info on this.
