  1. Ive converted some divx movies to vcd soe that i could watch them on my dvd player, now to convert them i have to use virtua dub first to ripped the audio as divx movies have a VBR audio.

Then i load the divx and the audio file into Tmpgenc and convert to vcd using the ntscfilm template as the divx movies r 23.976 fps.

All goes well, burn to disc as a vcd with nero.
But when playing back the film ok except a couple of times in the movie the audio seems to slip out of sync for about 1 minute. When out of sync its only out by about a slpit second, but enough to notice it.
When i say a couple of times its like once on each disc.

But if i run the vcd forward to the same part its fine and when playing the mpeg files on my pc there fine, only happens when watching the movie through.

Can anyone help me to solve this problem ??

You don’t need to save out the audio just because it has a verable bit rate, that alone wont effect the conversion in TMPGEnc

Will your DVD player play those ?. Sounds like it has problems !

Your player may work better with NTSC standard, not film. Only you can find this out by testing another with a NTSC VCD template.

  3. Thanks for the info mate, but the reason y i rip the audio separate is because all the guides seem to say to do as tmpgenc might have problems with it such as sync probs.

But im gonna give it a try and use the ntsc 29 fps template instead, maybe my player dont like ntscfilm 23 fps.
Never tryed doing this b4 as i thought it would cause the film to b jerky as the source is 23 fps.

  4. Yes some dvd players don't like vcd with 23.976 fps. Mine is one, it is an APEX 660AD with all the hack I could possibly do to it.

Ok, the guids are there to help, but don’t take them as gospel, what works well for one person does not work at all for the next. You need to see what you can do, most new Pentium computers have no problem at all with any of the conversions.

VBR is no problem, ASF or AC3 in TMPGEnc, but some people automatically convert to WAV "Just in case"

As for jerky movies, some times they look jerky when the camera pans quickly across the screen, you can even see that on some DVD's but not as bad as the conversion to VCD but you need to see for yourself what you can do.

What ever I download it is always converted to PAL, 29fps to 25fps those missing frames don’t show up anything on my DVD/TV unless there is a pan down the screen, which is not all that bad anyway.

Better to have those jerks, than to have the disk skip or not play at all ?
