I have an uncompressed AVI file that I created with a slideshow program I made, so all the frames are crystal clear. Now I want to put them on an SVCD (which I have done many times), but it is always not as clear.
I know you can fit about 30 minutes of mpeg2 onto a cd, but I only need about 10-15 minutes. Is there a way to adjust the quality in Nero before it encodes and burns my avi file so that it takes up more room, but looks way better?
I've heard people say when they go from dvd to svcd that the quality is pretty close, but I wouldn't say that about mine and I think it should be because every frame of my avi is clear as a bell.

First off, don't use Ner to encode to SVCD Mpeg-2, its encoder sucks. If you want freeware, use Tmpgenc. If this is still not up to the quality you need, increase the bitrate until you can only just fit it on the CD. Be warned tho, going above SVCD standard bitrates means it may not play in your standalone DVD player.

Ahhh, Thank you. I had fooled around with TMPGenc before, but it could never read my AVI's I had created... Since you mentioned that I decided to look at my code again to see why it wouldn't accept my AVIs. I notice my fcctype was "DIVX" (because I was fooling around with divx avi creation before), anyways, I changed it to the correct one and TMPGenc took it and encoded it. Alls I can say is it looks extremly crisp and nice compared to before.
Wooohooo!
