  1. I am experiencing severe DVD playback problems. I tried two different DVDs that I know are fine, and both have very bad stuttering problems, with both PowerDVD 4.0 and WMP with the DVD Decoder installed. Both the audio and video are choppy at best. I even ran the Windows Help DVD troubleshooter.

I checked all the DMA settings and they are fine. I have the NVIDIA 40.41 driver. I have two hard drives on the primary IDE channel, and a Verbatim 48x-12x-40x CDRW (as master) and the Toshiba DVD-ROM (as slave) on the secondary channel. I have Win XP Home SP1.

Should the DVD be the master (CDRW instructions say the CDRW should be master)? Do I need to ensure I have an 80 pin IDE cable?

This one is driving me nuts!

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Tom

  2. You can try switching them but I think the configuration you are currently using is ok. Try Overclockers.com their forum's are great for info and help on most stuff computer related.

Go into the general computer discussion forum there are some very knowledgable people there. Just don't talk about ripping.
