a new process i am considering using is this:
1)-osex to rip dvd -> vob
2)-mm2c to go from vob -> mov
3)-ffmpegx to go mov -> svcd

this is just a general outlook of what im thinking about doing. i would, of course, have to use something to take audio off vob, probly go to aiff or mp3, then add that to my mov, which i would save, then put into ffmpegx. once i get the chance, im going to play with this process and see how it turns out. although, u must know specific facts about your source, probly most importantly the fps, in order to achieve the right results. this is just my opinion of what seems to be the quickest and easiest way to go from dvd -> svcd. good luck with whatever method u use!

  4. i have tried this method before but i get stuck on the ripping part because everytime time i trty to rip in OSex( dont kno how to use extractor) my comp crashes and i have to restart. i have trashed my prefs for OSeX but thats all i can think of that would mess it up. Any help on how to fix that would be great.

  5. Why you may never find an easy way to sync dvd rips
    www.lukesvideo.com/telecining4.html#why

Your best bet may be find somewayto output VLC to a stdout file or chain the audio & video to encoders. Or wait till MediaPipe evolves to dual channel.

  7. lessthanbake I have only looked at this briefly. In unix, output of one process can be passed to the input of another by piping. (process1 | process2)

Open Terminal and type (or copy and paste)

    cd /Applications/vlc.app/Contents/MacOS

    then

    ./vlc -H

    then try

    ./vlc -l

Note the macosx interface, sound and video module. The full download at vlc.org may have more output modules.
