I have a divx encoded avi file and wanted to put it on a cd but the clever lad who encoded it made it 710 MB so it won't fit.
Does anyone know if I can compress it down to say 695MB and if so what progarm to use?
Thanks

You can open it in VirtualDub and select either full processing mode under Audio or Video. Then select an appropriate codec and bitrate under compression. Save your avi.
I don't know if it will affect the quality negatively. I would expect it to become worse but maybe it's acceptable.

Willem
