  2. Iv'e got a similar problem with my Yamaha 510 player.
But this has problems with DVD's also. It plays for about 20-30 minutes when it's cold and then suddenly stops.
The only way to get started again is to pull out the power for 1-10 minutes and then it will play for 5-10 minutes again.
It's the same with VCD's & SVCD's. It will say disc error or no disc in the display.
A buddy has a Pioneer 535 with the same problem!
Could there be any problem with certain brands of cd's ******* up the laser??
Any suggestions or comentarys are apreciated.!

    Regards,
    el-Dia

I have had the same problem with my Yamaha DVD S510: it was a heat problem / the player is defective. I returned my player to Yamaha.

  4. Just got back the player from repair.
The mono board was defective. Think it was the controllerboard for motors and/or lasers.

It's been firmware upgraded too. Now it allows switchable subtitles on the NTSC SVCD http://www.vcdhelp.com/svcd.htm#sample disk
On the PAL SVCD it's now displaying the menu but no subtitles.
