Ok...I've followed the guides for converting to vcd and svcd. I know my dvd player plays vcd's cause i bought one and it works on there. The problem is that when i burn the vcd onto the disk (80 min. cdr) when i put it in my standalone dvd player it says that there is no disk in there. So what the hell am i doing wrong....please i need help.

Maybe your player doesn't support cd-r disks. You could try burning a cd-rw to check this. Also check the dvd-player list if your player supports cd-r.

yup that is a typical error message if the dvd player does not suppor this media standard. Try use a cd-rw as mentioned above and check the compatability list. Also maybe its the brand of cd- that could make a diff. Btw some dvd players work wiv vcd and not svcd and some the other way round.
if none of the above helps, R.I.P
