  1. I have a couple of mpegs of a TV show that I want to convert to Mpeg-1 VCD. Both files are complete episodes and play through fine on Windows Media Player and Power DVD but when I try to encode them on Tmpgenc or Panasonic Mpeg1 Encoder only the first minute can be read (the mpegs play for about 22 minutes each in Media Player but the encoders both show them as being only a minute long).

Also when I tried to extract .wav files from them using Vdub, i got an error message that said, Mpeg import filter: unexpected end of file.

I would really appreciate some advice. thanks

See if you have any junk frames using VDub. Select Video-->Scan video stream for errors.

  3. Thanks for replying so quickly Tk.

I can't open either of them using Vdub. I just get the error msg. Is there another way I can scan them for errors?

  4. Well I figured out how to open the files in Vdub and just ran into more problems . Here's an update.

One of the files showed one bad frame amd no unreadable frames and the other showed no problems. I then set both audio and video to direct stream copy and tried to save as avi. When I did this I received a Vdub error that said, "The source video stream uses a compression algorithm which is not compatible with AVI files. Direct stream copy cannot be used with this video stream."

I then tried full processing mode video and for both files I received a "Sync Error" message at some stage while it was saving. Then I tried using full processing for audio as well and I got the same error msg.

Is it time to give up on these files that took me days to download?
