    Hi !

I have just recently bought a wintv pvr model-883 and am a newbie to capture.

So far I have only tried to capture sky digital (digital satellite) here in the Uk and VHS. I can capture at a resoulution of 352x288 without much problems. As soon as I increase the resolution to full ie. DVD resolution, I get comb-like lines through the picture. More precisely green/white streaks or lines focussed mainly on the moving parts of the video. A virtual dub guide tells me that this is due to interlacing and there in no way to eliminate this. Is this true ? I am using a scart to 3 phono 5 Meter gold cable to connect the sattelite box to my computer.

If anyone else uses this card, how do you capture at full resolution, or get best results. Anyone in the Uk try to capture sky digital with this card.

Virtual dub tells me that the drivers are MSVIDEO-Brooktree Bt 848 capture driver and microsoft WDM image capture. No signs of any Hauppauge drivers.

    Any suggestions ?

Thanks in advance for any help.

  2. Sounds like interlacing to me. A 352x288 capture isn't interlaced so that's why you don't see the "combing" effects on those caps. However if you try to play back your interlaced capture on a software DVD player (or standalone machine) it should play fine. It's just Win Media Player that doesn't like interlaced pictures!

    Hi !

Thanks for the reply. The virtual dub guide also states that this is an interlacing problem. I have tried playing the captures, high resolution captures in windvd but I still get the same result. I have even tried encoding the video to vcd in tmpgenc 2.57.

It seems that the lines are 'captured' during capture and nothing seems to work. These lines are not comb size lines, but quite long. I am very new to posting. How can I post a clip or frames of my captures on boards ?

    Anyone else have any ideas.

    Thanks ![/img]
