  2. The newer versions of nero checks the files to be burned to make sure they meet dvd specs if you use the dvd video option. Try using the udf/iso option and it should work fine, at least it does for me.

Actually, NERO checks the VIDEO_TS.IFO file for video title sets to be burned. It expects all of them to be there. When you split a DVD-9 to a DVD-5, you are moving these other video title sets to another disk - which is an error. I always think that it is wise to maintain the standard as much as possible.

Silly question, but why would you want to Rip lord of the rings to 2 DVD`2.
In europe the blanks are selling from about 6-13 Euros depending on quality & brand.

The original sells for 15.95 ??

Maybe you can buy really cheap blank DVD`s in USA.?

    cheers

  7. DVD-R prices in USA have just about bottomed out. I'm looking at $0.89 per disc now. I dunno how much that would be converted to british currency or euros.

$0.89 is about 0.90-0.95 Euros. Our government doesn't hit us with the outrageous taxes that the European countries seem to face. That's because we will revolt and shoot the bastards, if they do. We have already seen one revolution (about taxes) and one civil war (about excessive central government power) in our brief history.

A bit off the topic but does anyone know where to get cheap DVDr`s in europe. Internet ??

If I could get blank dvd-R`s for around 1 Euro then I“ll go out and buy a DVD burner tomorrow. As the price of the burners in ok here in Austria, its the damm media averaging over 10 euro that thats stopping me.

    Cheers

does lord of the rings cost only 15.95 euro in austria? in ireland, the lord of the rings dvd costs 37 euro!!!!!!! we're been ripped off!!!
at that price you would be better off copying it to a dvd-r. i would re-encode and keep it on 1 dvd-r untill the 4 disc version comes out.

  15. there was a good reason to rip lord of the rings to 2 dvdr's mainly coz of the size!! then the price of the origional DVD then the cost of the blanks. So here is a breakdown in cost for U!!!!

    To hire £3.25
    blanks £0.86 (43p each)
    total £4.11

cost of the proper DVD is £15.99 so that was my logic & I have retained all the features... and as for the silly qoute about why not just buy it well yeah I will but not the first release I'll wait till november for the 4 disk set!!!

    Kev!

BTW the main question I asked was why cant I burn it with nero. Thanks to all the people that gave me help with NERO as it was much apprieciated
