  1. Hi,

Well - to cut a long story short - I cannot create any PAL VCDs that my standalone DVD player will play withough having audio sync problems (no idea why - they play fine on my PC and they only go out of sync on my standalone if I don't touch ANY controls, ie pause etc. Pushing pause puts everything right back in sync)

So - I opted to convert to NTSC:

Converting to NTSC 29fps in TEmpenc gives slightly jerky video,

converting to 23.97gfps with "do not frameconvert" and stretching the audio gives a VCD that is in perfect sync but has occasional video stutter.

Converting to 29.97 with "do not frameconvert" and shrinking the audio gives perfect sync but a noticeably too fast video.

Attempting "do not frameconvert" and "perform 3:2 pulldown" gives smooth video, in sync video at 30fps but the fields seem out of sync slightly (odd/even lines go out of line when a chracter moves across the screen).

I am now at a loss... Surely there is a better way.

Many thanks for any help anyone can give.

  2. I have found that TMPGEnc does give this kind of problems. Try using another encoder - I ve tried Panasonic and, although it overall has less features and quality is slightly inferior, it does not suffer from the same synch problems as far as I m concerned.

    Cheers
