I have been playing with the DVD2DVDR program that came from GErmany and having some issues with the scenarist steps. (errors and crashes)

My goal is to make the easiest DVD to DVDR with no menus possible, easy even for my little brother to understand (who refuses to learn things other then how to play games)

This is what We're working on.... we are running DVD2DVDR and letting it go thorugh the CCE encode (This is good news as I like CCEs quality)

Instead of importing the files into Scenarist we are loading the video and audio files into DVDMaestro... problem is the chapter list that DVD2DVDr makes cannot be read by Maestro.

Heres are preposed solution. A good friend of mine who is a programmer is at this moment working on a simple tiny little program to convert the chapter listings from Scenarist to Maestro. It should be very small and very simple.

When done the total process should be like this:
    Unlocke DVD with DVDPlayer software.
Run DVD2DVDR and let it do its thing
Run program we are making and convert the chapterlisting to DVDMaestro
Load the audio file, converted video file, and chapter listing into Maestro
Lastly, compile the Video_TS dir and burn it.

Thats is... I know you can do something much like this with REMPEG... but I think its universally agreed that its quality is the suck. Therefore at last there might be an easy way to do it with CCE.

I am by no means an expert and this may very well fell... if however it works I will try and post the chapter conversion program up later tonight... but its only a temp solution as I only have a 4gb download limit per month on my web space.

    I'll keep everyone posted.

Project is failed... get a iframe error when you try to open the file and neither of us understand iframes well enough to get over this... oh well it was worth a shot.

Back to trying to figure out why Scenarist errors.

Make your conversion using the DVD2DVDr programme like you where doing.

Then download ChapterXtractor, use that on the original VOB's that should still be on your harddrive, then once you get the chapters out of the vobs, load up the .mpv and the .ac3 into Maestro then import your chapters list into it as well.

There's a guide at www.doom9.org that will tell you all you need to know about how to do it.

If it's still giving you error's, i would suspect that it might have something to do with that DVD2DVDR software programme.

I tried using that and the thing only got as far as the DVD2AVI part.

Now i just use DVD2SVCD with it setup for DVD encode, much better and much faster and always works.

Then i just use the Chapterx programme to get the Chapters and use DVD Maestro to Author them all together.

    Works everytime.

DVD2SVCD can do anything. just adjust the cd size to about 4gig and 0 to 900 minutes for the first cd on the bitrate tab. set dvd2svcd level to advanced on the misc. tab. set resize to dvd(720x480/576) on the frame server tab. on audio tab, set output to mpeg 5.1 and bitrate to at least 256(320 is what i use).

  9. Supposely by using DVD2DVDR you can keep menus and links. If you are just going to use DVD2SVCD for your DVD re-encoding, you might as well do it yourself.

jkl you are correct... using the DVD2SVCD guide I get files that maestro can import the chapters too as well as the subtitles if I want... very nice. I'm happy with this method so far... any type of disk that DVD2SVCD will choke on that I should be aware of?

I have done exatly the same using DVD2SVCD and Maestro only imports about 50% of the chapters. Just about to try Robshot method although it seems quite a timely exercise ! Any other solutions that are 'quick and easy' ?
