after demuxing with DVD2AVI audio is out of sync

After demuxing (i think that's what it's called) with DVD2AVI and recompessing with TMPGEnc my audio is out of sync with the video (more than 2seconds). I'm not sure how to check how much out of sync it is, and i was wondering why it's that way. The .vob's i ripped off the dvd are perfect.

ok, let me revise this a little... the first 10-15 seconds of the film are in perfect sync, and it's not until people appear on the screen does it seem out of syncronization.

Two things you might need to check. When you rip DVD, you better use a ripper that can do ifo parsing, like SmartRipper or DVD Descrytor, in ifo mode, not in file mode. If you rip your VOBs in file mode and then use DVD2AVI to extract audio wav, most like you will have synch problem.

Second, AlWAYS encode video and audio separately, then mux them together. You can find, identify and solve A/V synch problem much more easily this way.

i do everything you've said.. i have been using smart ripper, and im very sure it's in ifo mode. and the only thing i've been using DVD2AVI for it ripping the wav file off the vobs. then i use TMPGEnc to encode both the .d2v and the .wav together.

while it's ripping with SmartRipper, if you look in the top right hand side of the stats screen you should see a box named "AV-Delay" with a number in it (eg "-81 ms")

Once you have created the Wav file use "BeSplit v0.8" to fix the file

If that doesn't work, try using CladDVD version 1.71

I've already made 2 DVD rips into SVCD with absolutly no Lip Sync Errors.

I extract the VOB to a Directory
DVD2 AVI the whole movie and extracts Audio from Wave
Then I use TMPGEnc and File-serve with the d2v file


Works for me.

What are you making it into, VCD or SVCD?

its got nothing to do with the way the dvd is ripped coz I have tried to copy the stand and well it done the same on some of the vobs but the others in the set screwed up... so basically it may be the dvd? but U can try ripping in demux mode with smart ripper & see if that works any bet coz its always worth a try! & I may actually try to rip the Stand again!
